Frequently asked questions
Curious is a
good place to start.
Whether sound meditation is completely new to you or you’re planning an experience for a group, here are clear answers to the questions we hear most.
Getting
started
The basics for anyone considering their first session.
What is a sound meditation? +
A sound meditation is a guided relaxation experience using resonant instruments such as singing bowls, chimes, and other calming sounds to support stillness and focused awareness.
Do I need meditation experience? +
No. Sessions are designed to be approachable for complete beginners, and Karen guides you through the experience.
Is this the same as a sound bath? +
The terms are often used interchangeably. Both generally describe an immersive experience where participants relax while receiving layers of sound.
Do I need to be flexible or physically fit? +
No. Sound-only sessions do not require movement, and yoga experiences can be adapted to different comfort and ability levels.
The
experience
What it feels like and how to prepare.
What happens during a session? +
You’ll get comfortable, receive gentle guidance, and rest while layers of sound unfold. Sound + yoga sessions begin with approachable movement and transition into stillness.
What should I wear? +
Wear loose, comfortable clothing. For movement sessions, choose something that allows you to move easily.
What should I bring? +
Needs vary by session and location. We’ll let you know whether to bring a mat, blanket, pillow, water, or anything else before your appointment.
How long are sessions? +
Length depends on the type of experience and group needs. We’ll recommend an appropriate duration when planning your session.
Can the experience be personalized? +
Yes. Private and group sessions can be adjusted around your intentions, comfort, setting, occasion, and desired balance of sound and movement.
What might I feel afterward? +
Every experience is different. Many people report feeling relaxed, clear, calm, or grounded, but there is no single “right” response.
No perfect way to participate
Simply arrive
as you are.
You don’t have to clear your mind, know how to meditate, or achieve a particular feeling. Your only job is to get comfortable and allow the experience to meet you where you are.
